Bunkers

Today GPW brings you three pictures of bunkers at Black Sheep, Sand Hills and Kingsley Club.

The first picture shows the was bunker that can be found left of the landing area at Black Sheeps par 5 6th hole. This bunker is roughly 30 yards wide and 80 yards long. This bunker didn't exist in the original design. Instead, this area was waist high prairie grass and many a ball went flying into the stuff, never to return. The bunker was added two summers ago to give players a chance to find and play their ball if they pull the drive left. This hole is over 600 yards long, so pulling your drive into the bunker is a real penalty since it will prohibit the player from advancing his ball significantly down the fairway on the second shot.

The second picture shows the massive blowout bunker found short and left of the 4th green at Sand Hills. Take note of the stair leading down into the bunker on the left, giving some scale to the size of the blowout. The very bottom of the bunker is still wet from heavy rainfall the night before.

The final picture shows the greenside bunker at the par 3 2nd at Kingsley Club. This bunker looks more like a pit or hole in the ground. It is evil. Local legend Jefe and Golf Club Atlas superstar JC are carefully negotiating the edge of the bunker. The flag can just be seen in the middle of the picture.
