Bowes Creek Par 4 2nd

Today GPW brings you the par 4 2nd hole at Bowes Creek, a new layout 40 miles west of Chicago.

Bowes Creek opened in the fall of 2009, straddling the line between private and public golf. The idea at Bowes Creek is the public pays an all day fee, which then provides unlimited access to the range, cart and golf. Sadly, the all day fee doesn't include the metal bag tags on display in the pro shop, which can be yours for only $17.50! (engraving NOT included)

On to the golf course. The second hole at Bowes Creek will pop you in the mouth. It is a demanding golf hole. Generally playing into the prevailing wind, the second measures 436 yards. The hole works slightly left. A bunker located in the fairway on the left must be avoided off the tee. Playing the ball left trims yards off the hole. However, the player choosing this path will not have a look at the flag on the second shot, as bunkers and a mound block his view. Playing down the right side, the hole becomes much longer, but the green will be visible on the approach, as demonstrated in the second picture. The green is open in the front to accept a low, bouncing shot, also known as GPW's ball flight.

Bowes Creek is a nice looking golf course, with most holes void of housing and the bunkers sporting the ragged edge look that has become popular in recent years.
