"Dubs", as locals call it, is a big, brawny golf course which has recently undergone a make over by Rees Jones. The layout is generally considered the best public golf course in the Chicagoland area. It sits on rolling land which is heavily wooded.
The first hole plays slightly uphill off the tee and bend to the left. The player cannot see the green from the tee box. The second shot plays slightly downhill to a heavily bunkered green, a common characteristic see throughout the design. The first green is one of the few that is somewhat open in the front. Most of the greens at Dubsdread are fronted by deep bunkers, forcing the player to fly to ball to the putting surface.
