Doonbeg Par 4 6th

Today GPW brings you four pictures of the par 4 6th hole at Doonbeg, which measures 370 yards from the back tee.

The 6th is an inspired golf hole. The dunes here are massive and the hole has been carved directly through them. The crescent beach and crashing waves of the ocean lie just steps to the players left. The 6th tee box is elevated allowing the player to soak in all of the vivid details.

The drive must first carry heavy grass and then find the sliver of a fairway. A bunker right of the fairway must be avoided off the tee. The 6th has one of the most rolling fairways at Doonbeg.

Four bunkers are found short and right of the green. The green is deep, 47 paces, but narrow. This picture taken from the right of the green shows just how close the ocean really is.

The final picture is taken from behind the green. The green has been shoehorned in between several dunes and the back half of the putting surface runs quickly away.
